What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work properly, remember your preferences, and improve user experience.
Cookies We Use
DZSpotter uses a small number of essential cookies that are always on, plus optional analytics and marketing cookies that only load if you accept them via our cookie banner. You can accept all, reject all, or choose categories, and change your choice at any time. If you reject the optional categories, the analytics and marketing tools below are never loaded.
dzspotter_accessSite access cookie. Set when you enter the correct site password on the access page. Tells the server that you are allowed to view the site. This cookie is HTTP-only (cannot be read by JavaScript) and expires after 30 days. Required for the site to function.

dzspotter_adminAdmin access cookie. Set when an authorised user successfully logs into the admin dashboard. Only present for admin/moderator users. Expires after 30 days.

sb-* (Supabase auth)Authentication session cookies. Set by Supabase (our database and authentication provider) when you sign in to DZSpotter. These keep you logged in across page loads. They are required for authentication to function.

Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, MouseflowUsage analytics. These tools help us understand how DZSpotter is used and improve it. Google Analytics measures page views and traffic sources; Microsoft Clarity and Mouseflow record anonymised, aggregated usage and session activity (such as clicks and scrolling). They set their own cookies and send data to Google, Microsoft and Mouseflow respectively. They load only if you accept analytics cookies.

Meta (Facebook) PixelAdvertising measurement. The Meta Pixel lets us measure the performance of our advertising and reach skydivers with relevant ads on Facebook and Instagram. It sets cookies and shares data with Meta Platforms. It loads only if you accept marketing cookies.

What We Do NOT Do
- We never load analytics or marketing cookies before you accept them. Reject them and they are not loaded at all.
- We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
- We do not use the analytics or marketing tools to read your private messages, password, or account email.
SessionStorage
DZSpotter uses your browser's sessionStorage (not a cookie) to remember your search results when you navigate to a dropzone page and click "back". This data exists only in your browser's memory and is cleared automatically when you close your browser tab. No data from sessionStorage is sent to our servers.
Managing Cookies
When you first visit DZSpotter, our cookie banner lets you Accept all, Reject all, or open Manage to choose the analytics and marketing categories individually. Optional cookies are only loaded once you consent, and your choice is remembered for up to 12 months. To change your choice, clear the DZSpotter cookies/site data in your browser and the banner will appear again.
Essential cookies cannot be switched off, as the site cannot function without them. You can also view, manage, and delete cookies through your browser settings: search "[your browser name] how to manage cookies" in your preferred search engine.
